Thule has voluntarily issued a safety recall on a number of its discontinued hitch racks sold between January 2003 and June 2007. Thule has determined that a pinch point exists between the rack's bike arm bracket and the upright assembly. When the bracket is in its down position, the pinch point has potential to cause severe personal injury, including lacerations and/or amputations. Thule is working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to administer the recall.
Please check the photos and models below to see if you have one of the affected Thule racks. If so, please stop using the rack immediately and bring it to us. As an authorized Thule retailer, we will check your rack quickly and install the repair kit if needed.
You may also contact Thule at 800-848-5391 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. eastern standard time to obtain a free repair kit. You can obtain information on this recall at www.thuleracks.com.
